The Dominican Republic is unlike many of the Caribbean countries as it has a long diverse historical culture. The Native people of Hispaniola were the “Tainos” People, Research has shown that the Tanios tribes have situated the island of Hispaniola from as early Circa A.D 650.
The Tainos thrived on the island of Hispaniola; using the rich soils for cultivation and fishing the sea’s like an infinitive food source. The islanders divided the Hispaniola into 5 areas each under rule of its own High chief. In 1492 a fleet of Spanish galleons discovered the new world shores of “the Dominican republic”, the Spanish and the Tainos people integrated in and peaceful manner and lived beside one another in harmony for hundreds of years. Disaster struck the Native tribes, as the alien travellers accidently bought “Small Pox” with them which wiped out many of the native Tainos people. Tainos blood still runs through many of the Dominican Republic people with the last “pure blood” Taino dyeing in 1864. under Spanish control the Dominican Republic was primarily used for Crop Farming and mining which bought the much profitable slave trade with it. By this time the western coast of Hispaniola (Hiati) was under French Rule who later claimed the land for themselves.
In today’s world the Dominican republic still shows many signs of its past culture with the national tongue being Spanish, the Dominican republic is situated in the Caribbean which bought many other Caribbean cultures and different people together. The country’s got a prefect geographical location for captureing hot temperature’s all year round making it a perfect paradise desintation for Sun seeking holiday makers and newley wedded hooneymooners.
