Plus, there are a smaller number of people to battle, smaller lines at tourist destinations, and fewer people in the background of your pictures.

Although the American dollar doesn’t go very far in many countries particularly Europe you will be relieved to hear that Lonely Planet has just put out their top ten recommendations on “Best in Travel 2010.” This guide recommends the best places to go and things to do in the following year, plus there are many interesting vacations that do not involve Europe.

The premier countries to go to this year are El Salvador, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Portugal, Suriname, Greece, Germany, and the United States. Simply two European countries are on this list. And Greece is one of the more affordable countries Americans can visit with the USD. The U.S.D. goes further in Greece than it would in Berlin. Not only are things high-priced, but the dollar doesn’t get much on the euro.

As for the best regions Lonely Planet recommends Alsace, France; Bali, Indonesia; Fernando de Noronha, Brazil; Goa, India; Koh Kong Conservation Corridor, Cambodia; Lake Baikal, Russia; Oaxaca, Mexico; Southern Africa; The Lake District, England; Southwest Western Australia. These regions provide travelers with a great vacation that is off the beaten path. They get to experience the magnificence of the country and experience more of the local life instead of the resorts, expensive eating establishments, and shopping malls.

Besides top countries, and top regions, there is also a recommendation of top cities to visit in the world. The suggestions includes Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Charleston, United States; Cork, Ireland; Cuenca, Ecuador; Istanbul, Turkey; Kyoto, Japan; Lecce, Italy; Sarajevo, Bosnia; Singapore; and Vancouver, Canada.

If these destinations catch your attention, begin planning right away. With any luck, you can find great deals. But make sure to study the destination so that you don’t arrive during the rainy season or winter when it’s cold and attractions close earlier, plus the sun sets sooner. There are exciting destinations but a little planning can go a long way. Nothing is worse than going on a vacation and having inclement weather or something else that can utterly mess up your vacation.

1. Mexico

Canada is the second most visited country. Since England used to possess the United States and many American’s relatives are from there, this is the most visited country overseas. England also has a close link with the United States, plus it’s English speaking which makes this a premier destination.

Italy is home to so much history. There are so many cities and sites in Rome, Vatican City, Milan, Florence, Venice, and Tuscany. Not to mention that they have unbelievably delicious food. Plus Italy is more affordable to go to in comparison with other western European countries.

Since our country was recognized, France has been a great supporter. Although we don’t see eye to eye on everything, this is a great country to visit. Paris is famous for being one of the most beautiful cities in the world. In addition, France also provides a unique way of life. Although plan ahead, because it is very high-priced.

6. Germany
Germany provides a lot of history. There are great cities like Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Dresden, Nuremberg, and obviously the Black Forest. Germany offers diversity that many countries can’t. It is a very prestigious country and the exchange rate is not in our favor, but it is a lot of fun and encircled by many other countries which makes it a great place to start or end your trip in Europe.

7. Bahamas/Caribbean
The Bahamas is an exciting destination for travelers. It offers superb resorts and faultless beaches. Tourists really get to relax and enjoy themselves. The Bahamas is a popular destination along with other Caribbean countries because they offer a break from routine life. Plus they’re close, safe, and cheap.

8. Ireland
Besides the irresistible accent the Irish have, they are also gracious. In Ireland you really get to travel around the countryside and feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The country is green and tourists gather to see sheep and thatched cottages. There are also exciting cities tourists may spend their time in. Plus, the recession has hit Ireland hard so this is a less expensive European destination.

9. Japan
While Tokyo is one of the most costly cities in the world it is a great place to visit. This destination provides Americans with an experience they cannot get anywhere else.

Because of the progress that China has experienced it’s a refuge for businessmen and tourists alike. Tourists can buy heaps of stuff for very little money. There are great cities like Beijing, Hong Kong, and tourist spots like the Great Wall of China.
