Description

Get to know all of Beijing’s main attractions over three nights and four days with this tour including accommodation and meals. Gathering your energy on the first night, on Day 2 you will head to Tiananmen Square, the heart of the city, which features the Mausoleum of Chairman Mao, the National Museum, and the Hall of the People, with the Forbidden City neighboring to the north. The former home and offices of the Ming and Qing emperors offer a glimpse of ancient architecture and imperial politics. The Summer Palace, in the city’s northwest, was the emperors’ getaway, and the beautiful complex contains pavilions, gardens, lakes, and corridors. You’ll head farther out the next day, visiting the Great Wall’s Badaling section as well as the Sacred Way and Changling Tomb at the Ming Tombs site, where several emperors are buried. Day 4 will see you explore the Temple of Heaven, where emperors prayed for good harvests and the atonement of the people’s sins, and the Lama Temple, considered Beijing’s finest Buddhist temple, designed magnificently to the last detail. The tour will end after an exploration of Beijing’s oldest alleys and hutongs, seemingly stuck in time amidst a rapidly changing city.
